Ido Vunderink, nephew and namesake of Ido Pieter Vunderink (1935-2021), can be placed, with his paintings, in the tradition of geometric abstract artists such as Vilmos Huszár, Elsworth Kelly, and Josef Ongenae. His paintings, at first glance a strict ordering of color, planes, and lines, invite close examination. How do they behave, also in relation to one another? Vunderink received his training at the Amsterdam Rietveld Academy, where the geometric visual language was widely accepted, giving him the opportunity to explore and develop this language.
